Storm Passing

Hasselblad X2D II 100C · XCD 28P · 54 sec · f/8 · ISO 800

Last night, a storm moved quickly past our house and into the distance.  I stepped outside with a camera and tripod as the rain eased and the clouds began to break.

Lightning was still flashing within the storm, illuminating the clouds without producing any clearly visible bolts. During the roughly minute-long exposure, passing cars traced thin lines of light across the road while the moving clouds stretched across the sky.

I keep a camera, tripod, and a few essentials packed together and ready to go. Moments like this rarely provide much warning. Sometimes the photograph depends on being ready to walk out the door.
