TSWL 09 – Jones Falls Lockstation Basin

Long-exposure black and white photograph of meltwater, exposed wooden beams, rocks, and ice at the Jones Falls Lockstation basin.

Jones Falls Lockstation basin, Rideau Canal, Ontario. Meltwater, exposed wooden beams, rocks, and ice revealed during winter drawdown conditions.

From The Straight Way Lost, a long-form photographic sequence exploring psychological landscape, disorientation, and transition along the Rideau Canal corridor in Eastern Ontario. Photographed at the Jones Falls Lockstation basin during winter drawdown, this image exposes submerged structures, fractured ice, and meltwater channels normally hidden beneath the canal surface. The revealed infrastructure and layered textures transform the engineered landscape into an ambiguous terrain of erosion, memory, and suspended movement.
