After several weeks spent finishing my MA Photography final project, I took advantage of a rare free evening to ride west along Highway 33 beside Lake Ontario.
I stopped at Upper Gap, looking toward the horizon between Amherst Island and Prince Edward County’s Cressy Point. The site has long been valued for its open view across the channel and its relationship to the lake.
This photograph was made using a 24-second exposure with an ND filter, allowing the water and clouds to settle into softer tonal fields. The muted pastel colours were intentionally left restrained rather than intensified in post-processing.
More than anything, this was simply a quiet moment beside the water. After months structured around deadlines, sequencing, editing, and writing, the ride offered a brief return to freedom of movement.
